Hallie's Story

After losing their daughter Hallie in November 2023, Hallie’s mother, Kimberley, and father, Jamie, set up Hallie’s Hideaway with the promise to continue the legacy of their beautiful daughter.

Hallie snuggled up under blankets in her cot.

Hallie’s love for birds was beautiful to watch. Although isolated in a hospital room most of the time, that didn’t stop Hallie from watching and waving to all the birds that flew past her window. At every possible opportunity, Hallie’s parents would make sure Hallie went to the park where she would follow the ducks as if she belonged in their flock!

Despite all her treatment and the months living in isolation, Hallie always had a smile on her beautiful face and took everything in her stride with such grace and a maturity older than her 2 years. Her parents often joked that she was their little Grandma, an old soul, loving her cups of tea while reading her books with a blanket over her knees.

Hallie’s mother, Kimberley, always said that if this was Hallie’s life, then it doesn’t matter if she is in hospital or not, it will still be the best and her parents made that true every single day of her life.

The perfect description of Hallie is ‘the gentlest, purest soul with the most infectious smile’.

Hallie Ruby Reeve was an incredible, happy, beautiful little girl who was sadly diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia, Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia (JMML), when she was just 8 months old. Hallie was diagnosed during her first holiday to Spain. After spending 10 days in intensive care, Hallie became strong enough to be able to be flown home, where she was taken straight to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. This is where Hallie spent most of her life.

Hallie fought bravely for 16 months against JMML. She underwent 2 Stem Cell Transplants, many rounds of chemotherapy and countless blood and platelet transfusions and surgeries. But Hallie was so much more than her battle with Leukaemia.

Hallie was the most kind-natured, sweetest little girl, who would greet her family and friends, and even her doctors and nurses, with a famous Hallie wave and kiss. From dancing to Baby Shark to acting out Wind the Bobbin Up, she loved her music, and you would often find her dancing the day away.
